2010 Christmas Prayer… The Orphan

Thursday, December 9th, 2010

This morning, during our all-staff meeting, our Executive Pastor challenged us to end our time with a “Christmas Prayer”. This prayer was to be a prayer that you have for the entire Christmas season. After thinking through my laundry list of wants…wishes…and desires for the holiday season here’s what I’ve come up with:

Christmas prayer

This year, our world is being turned upside down with the adoption of our daughter from Ethiopia. We’re looking at EVERYTHING a little differently. When I think of my wants, I see the faces of orphans that I’ve held and kissed just a few days ago. When I think of my wishes, I remember the smell of urine that permeated the government orphanage we visited. When I think of my desires, I hear the sounds of children singing as they long for a home and a family to call their own.

My Christmas Prayer this year is to never get over this year. I pray that it’ll mess our family up for a very long time… never to recover. This year, we’re praying for the helpless, the hurting , the hungry, the orphan.

What’s your Christmas prayer this year?

For God SO Loved the World

Thursday, October 14th, 2010

My wife and I watched this video after we got our court dates and I lost it. Tears of emotions overflowed. It speaks for itself, but if you watch closely, watch this guy when he sees his parents come the second time to take him home. He had been waiting for 3 weeks for their return. It pierced my heart with the longing that we all have to be deeply loved and taken care of not only by our family, but by our Heavenly Father. Grab your tissues and watch!
