When is too much too much PART II (WWTD)

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010

Ok, I understand that many of you have seen or heard this song before (if not, you’re in for a treat!) BUT I thought this might add to the discussion I had (HERE) on how much is too much when it comes to teaching little kids the “rougher parts” of the Bible.

“The only honest man in church…”

Sunday, October 3rd, 2010

So I just had a very funny experience. It’s 11:25 (25 minutes after the service has begun) and I was on my way back to my office to finish up some work that needed to be completed…yesterday and on my way there I passed THAT GUY IN THE PHOTO ABOVE… ok, it wasn’t really that guy, but he had the same unhappy face. I jokingly mentioned to our small groups pastor that “that’s one unhappy guy!”

He quickly responded with a TON OF SARCASM “Doesn’t he know you’re supposed to wear a smile on your face at church and act as though everything is going great!”

I laughed and said, “He’s probably the only honest man in church and as a result… boy does he stand out!”

Authenticity -So many places say they want it, but what does it really look like?

-People are rougher than normal

-They wear distasteful t-shirts

-They sometimes use inappropriate language.

-They let you know when they’re upset.

-They’re not always “fine”.

Are churches ready for this? Is your church ready for it?

How does your church speak of Authenticity and more importantly, what really happens?
