Washington Time
News spread at light speed this week that the United Nations appointed an official greeter for aliens visiting Earth. Malaysian astrophysicist Mazlan Othman, head of the U.N. Office for Outer Space Affairs, was given the task of shaking the hands, claws, tentacles, antennae or other appendages (if any) of extraterrestrials who decide to drop in. With world peace and the global economy limping along on vapors, this appointment of an ambassador to aliens proves once again that the international body’s priorities are lost in space. Then again, perhaps this outreach to the final frontier isn’t all bad if it distracts U.N. space cadets from some of their misguided missions on this planet.(READ MORE HERE)

How I Use Google Reader…
Wednesday, September 29th, 2010It’s amazing I was just talking with a friend this morning about how I use Google Reader as a way to “read a lot” in a very short amount of time. I was going to try to find a video that explains Google Reader… and I just found it… using Google Reader

“The Last Ride of Wyatt Earp and His Immortals”
Monday, September 27th, 2010So this is what it feels like to be heading out on the last charge…the final push? For me, this is my final 21-day stretch. Last week, I was able to talk my way into my final class for my Marriage and Family degree. This mean, after this one-week intensive …I’m done with all of my coarse work! I still have a few hundred hours of counseling hours that I need to acquire… but no more late night cramming for an exam… no more all-nighters writing a 20 page paper!
Almost there!

How to Balance Your Leadership Team
Friday, September 24th, 2010Here’s the scenario: you’ve just taken a new position at a large church. You’ve inherited a leadership team. Where do you start? Here are 3 quick placed to take your team:
Balancing a leadership team takes a clear:
1. Understanding that this takes TIME
Nothing happens quickly! Here’s what we need:
Growth – meshing this team together
Identifying the problems with the present system
Changes – In communication, and programming
2. Definition of ROLES
You need to know what role you play on the team.
You need to play YOUR role especially early on.
This helps keep the roles defined and remember that when you’re frustrated, you need to attempt to look at the situation from the other person’s perspective.
3. VISION
What is the vision of where we are?
Where are we going short term / long term?
Clear Communication is what makes all of this possible.
Seek out answers to the above. Don’t assume your team will get them to you.
Teach your team HOW to communicate to you, the leader. The roles have now changed and more than likely, their communication must change as well.
Tact is the ability to describe others as they see themselves. – Abraham Lincoln
