Leaders are Readers

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

If you know me, you know that I’m a firm believer that leaders are readers… However, if you REALLY know me, you know that this phenomenon is relatively new.  I managed to make it through college with only reading a few books in their entirety. However, over the last couple years, this has changed dramatically. Namely, once I started my Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy, I had to become a reader …and fast.  Last year I read 52 books! This is REALLY good for me! This year I set a goal of 40, knowing that I will complete my coursework in October …and thus NEEDING to read less. J So with that being said, I thought I’d post my reading list as of August, 2010. So far… 25 books and going strong. Here they are: (sorry, no links… it takes too long J)

Tuesday Morning Controversy- to email… or not to email…that is the question!

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

OK, so it’s actually Tuesday Afternoon Controversy… either way, here it is:

Email… effective way to communicate to parents?

One thing that we’ve noticed around our staff is the number of times parents have asked us questions about something that was plainly explained in an email just the day before. Are they not reading? Are they ignoring us? ??? Any one else with this problem? Is email an effective way to communicate to parents thee days? How about Facebook? Blogs? and Web Sites? What have you learned?
